Test your equipment or device to make sure it is operating properly.

Dictate in a quiet environment.

Give special instructions upfront.

Know what you want to say before dictating.

Speak slowly and clearly.

Speak loud enough so the transcriptionist doesn’t have to strain to hear what you’re saying.
